You Need to Eat at These Two Places in San Francisco!
When exploring San Francisco, there are two hidden gems that you simply cannot miss. The first is a charming spot known for its handmade pasta. The second is said to have the world's best pizza—and no, I'm not exaggerating!
Additionally, I've included a third place as an honorary mention, which is recognized as the best Thai restaurant in San Francisco.
The Italian Homemade Company
When traveling, I stay away from Italian food unless I am in Italy. I don't know why I do that; maybe it's because most places have the same pasta dishes. But I am happy my cousin found this place! It's hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever had, except in Italy. All their pasta and sauces are handmade, and you can taste their love for the food. I had the ravioli with the meat sauce while my cousin had the meat lasagna. Both dishes were out of this world.
Their service is fantastic and fast! Even on New Year's Eve, we ordered our food and enjoyed it within 15 minutes. The prices were good for something homemade. Our two dishes and a glass of wine cost $50-$60.
Tony's Pizza
Our visit to Tony's Pizza was at the recommendation of a dear friend, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. This place is a pizza lover's paradise, and it's no surprise that it has been awarded the World Championship several times and is ranked as the second-best pizza place in the USA. The accolades are well-deserved, as our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
When we were there, we ordered the calamari as an appetizer. For the main course, we chose the Gotham Coal-Fired Pizza, topped with sliced mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, pepperoni, roasted peppers, Italian sausage, and smoked apple bacon, all served with agave garlic basil. The pizza was cooked to perfection in a coal-fired oven, giving it a unique smoky flavor. Just writing this post makes my mouth water and brings me back to eating the pizza. I am actually craving it now!
The atmosphere was loud but, oh, so welcoming, and our bartender was amazing. The place was packed, but somehow, we got seats at the bar. His recommendations for wine with the pizza were so spot on that we got another glass! I will warn you that this place is a bit pricey. The pizza itself was 40 bucks. I think our bill came out to over $ 120, but it was well worth it, as it was our last real meal in San Francisco before flying out the next day.
Thai House Express Castro District
I know the blog post said two places where you need to eat, but I wanted to add this as an honorary mention. I included Thai House Express Castro District as a bonus recommendation because it's a great place to try if you're in the area. I was sick when we were in San Fran, and I didn't have much appetite the day we went there. But you should check out this place.
We had their Chef's spicy, sweet, sour garlic sauce and crispy basil wings, and I had their yellow curry chicken. I didn't get a chance to finish everything since this cold was kicking my ass, but it really helped my cold, and I was able to take leftovers back to the hotel! It is rated as the best Thai food in San Fran, and it really is!
If you've already explored the vibrant streets of San Francisco, what’s your top recommendation for my next adventure? I'd love to hear your suggestions! Also, if you happen to bring back a slice of Tony's pizza for me, you will be my new best friend!
