2 Best Places to Eat and Drink in Folly Beach, SC

After a lovely evening in Charleston, I found myself craving some peaceful beach time before heading back to North Carolina for work. Folly Beach is just a quick 30-minute drive from downtown, making it an ideal getaway to a charming, laid-back beach town. It’s bursting with local creativity and vibrant colors, much like Charleston, but with an even more relaxed Southern atmosphere. I’d love to share the two fun places I explored during my short beach visit!

Let’s go on a beach adventure, shall we?

Chico Feo

You can’t mention Folly Beach without going to Chico Feo. A friend of mine recommended this lively open-air spot, and I completely understand why it’s such a favorite. Just steps from the sand, it has vibrant picnic tables, live music, friendly locals, and that quirky beach shack vibe that truly captures Folly Beach’s spirit. And oh, their food! Honestly, some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in the South. They serve a delicious mix of island-inspired and globally influenced dishes, all made with fresh, flavorful ingredients. It’s the perfect place to grab a cold drink, relax, and unwind after a fun day in the ocean!

Revelry Brewing

This hidden gem of a brewery is truly worth a visit! This semi-outdoor spot is perfect for enjoying a cold pint and unwinding. And if you're lucky, like I was, you might even make friends with an adorable dog! Revelry Brewing has built its reputation by creating flavorful, consistent beers that gently push the envelope while remaining incredibly drinkable. Their rotating tap list features favorites like Left Loose IPA and exciting limited-edition small-batch brews that highlight local ingredients. Although they don't serve food themselves, you can easily order from a nearby restaurant by scanning a QR code at the bar, and they'll deliver it right to you.

Final Thoughts

I really wish I didn’t have to leave and head back to North Carolina for work. I was just beginning to relax on the beach a bit longer and explore this charming little beach town. Folly Beach offers more than just a sunny day—it’s a full experience filled with delicious food, live local music, and an atmosphere that’s friendly and laid-back. As you can see, it’s easy to wander around, enjoy some tasty local bites and drinks, and soak up the sun in just a few hours. But I truly encourage spending a whole weekend here to really enjoy all the local charm and Southern hospitality! Let me know in the comments where I should visit next time I’m in Folly Beach!
