Three Random Food Places to Check Out in Dublin

Dublin is famous for its lively streets, historic landmarks, and a vibrant food scene that caters to all tastes. From cozy cafés hidden in busy neighborhoods to chic dessert spots, Dublin combines tradition with innovation for food lovers. Whether you’re craving a classic Irish breakfast (my first meal in Dublin) or a rich boozy ice cream (who wouldn't want whiskey in ice cream?), there’s always something new to try.

I was excited to explore a few places since most of my meals were at pubs, which I’ll share here. Below are my top three favorite spots you should visit!

Irish Potato Cake Company

A hostel staff member recommended this place to me when I asked about breakfast or lunch options at check-in. I’m really glad I visited! It’s a small, charming, old green building full of character. I had a small Irish breakfast with an egg, sausage, bacon, potato cakes, beans, and more—an ideal start to the day since I just landed 1.5 hours ago!

Of course, I also tried a Guinness, my first in Ireland, and it's true when people say it tastes different here. The prices are fair, and you can sign up on their WhatsApp for updates on food and drink specials to save yourself a few Euros!

Butler’s Coffee

Right after my delightful Irish Breakfast, I was told to go to Butler’s Coffee. With every coffee purchase, you receive a small free piece of chocolate. If you're a fan of their chocolates, you can buy boxes to take home! I visited this place especially often, as jet lag was really hitting me hard; this is what I get for being in the country for three days!

Murphy’s

While wandering the streets, my friend convinced me to try a boozy ice cream. This happened on my first day in Ireland, of course!

When I saw that Murphy’s was only a 3-minute walk away on the map, I figured I might as well go. I’ve included a selection of different ice creams—only two contain alcohol. I liked the Whiskey Chocolate in a cone best.

I never expected to be strolling Dublin’s streets in November with an ice cream, but I highly recommend visiting! There's also a Murphy’s in Galway if you're heading there. You can read about my day trip to Galway here.

Although this list of Dublin sites may seem somewhat random, I promise you won’t regret visiting them, especially if your time in the city is short like mine was. Each location offers a distinctive experience that reflects Dublin’s culinary scene, from satisfying local breakfasts and cozy coffee to unique ice cream flavors found only here.

These suggestions will make your trip to Dublin both tasty and unforgettable. Feel free to add them to your itinerary—you’ll leave with wonderful memories and maybe discover a new favorite dish or flavor!
